This $25 Clinique Lipstick Feels Like Lip Balm and Looks Amazing

In need of something easy but beautiful to take up your makeup looks around this season, do I have to tell you of the Clinique Almost Lipstick. I have tried it, worn it on various days and moods and I do really love it. It provides you with the comfort of a lip balm, the slight colour of a lipstick and the finish, which simply makes your lips appear naturally polished.

Why is it Like a Lip Balm (But Appears to be Lipstick)

The first swipe you will feel will be smoothness of the formula. Clinique explains the consistency to be somewhere between lipstick and gloss, that it feels more like a colored lip balm that can be easily applied on. The following are some of the best ingredients and their functions:

  • Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil- a dense emollient that assists in making lips smooth and gives it an oily slickness.
  • Candelilla Wax and Carnauba Wax– are used to provide structure to the stick form, but can melt readily when in contact, to form a balm, such as feel.
  • Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) - an antioxidant, which is good in promoting lip health and smoothness.
  • Fragrance, free, allergy, tested, paraben and phthalate, free, so it is not harsh on lips.

Since the texture feels like melting on the lips, it is not weighty; instead, it slides on the lips with a light balm, touch, and then it leaves transparent buildable colour and a light radiance. That is why I tell that it feels like lip balm and looks amazing.

1. Pink Honey

Light pink, slightly sheer and gives the lips a rosy look. Clinique defines it as soft, sheer pink, which adds a bloody touch of colour and shine to lips. It was fresh, natural and made my lips pop just enough on me. The best every day makeup item as it is subtle yet perfect.

2. Black Honey

This is the iconic shade. It appears very deep in the tube at first, but when it comes to the lips it turns into a sheer tint of berry, rasp, which matches the natural colour of your lips. According to Ulta: do not get deceived by the appearance in the tube. Black Honey is an easy, smooth, glossy slide of light colour.I liked the fact that it gave me a sophisticated, non-dramatic look that is appropriate both during the day and night.

3. Nude Honey

A more recent shade addition that completes the trinity. The nude you want is the one you have. An unexpectedly accommodating nude which appears differently on each lip. I felt that Nude Honey was a cozy my, lips, but, better shade, particularly in combination with a soft eye and a neutral tone makeup palette.

How I Used it

I have been wearing this Almost Lipstick in various occasions: going out to buy coffee, business meetings, date. I would swipe one coat daily on a natural wash of colour and on a good day I would add one more layer. Since the finish is clear and constructible, you do not have a feeling of wearing a heavy lipstick. I even applied it on top of a bare lip liner just in order to give a subtle definition.

One morning I applied the Pink Honey shade to a brunch appearance: clean skin, a small smear of mascara and this lip. It raised the appearance and did not grab attention.

Why it’s a Must Have

  • Comfort first: Since it is so conditioning and balm, like, I never had drying lips or falling into lines.
  • Diversity: There are three shades so that you can choose it based on your mood or occasion.
  • Luxury feel at $25: It has been a good formula and thus it is very economical.

Final Thoughts

It combines the best of all by being a balm that feels comfortable, a lipstick that is colorful, and a gloss that is smooth but not sticky. You can go with Pink Honey, Black Honey or Nude Honey and you will find one that matches your lips and your personality. I can certainly suggest picking one (or all three) and finding out how it will improve your lip game.
